Jordan Planet: Happy Birthday

August 21st, 2005

Today marks 1 year since Jordan Planet started. In 18th August 2004 I registered the domain jordanplanet.net. And 2 days later, I got FREE hosting from EasyHTTP that Jad own. And in August 21st, the site was up with only a couple of bloggers.

I started to look for Jordanian Bloggers. Emailing those who I can find:
>Dear Natasha,
> I came across your blog today, and I would like to add your
>blog to Jordan Planet (http://www.jordanplanet.net)
>
>Jordan Planet, still in testing stage, aims to be a portal, that
>links the Jordanian bloggers. when I started it I thought that I won’t
>find many of those :) but it seems that I am very mistaken :)
>
>You don’t need to do anything, I will use the RSS or Atom feeds that
>your blog software provide to get feed from your blog. If you do not
>wish to have your site listed and syndicated in Jordan Planet please
>say so.
>
>If you know any other non-listed Jordanian bloggers I would be
>really thankful if you provide me with their addressed/URLs..
>
>Thank you very much.
>
>BTW: I am a fan :) I used to read you all the time in Arabia.com and
>in “The Star” :) we miss you.
>
>Yours
>Isam Bayazidi

Since then, Jordan Planet moved from the free hosting in EasyHTTP to a payed one somewhere else, the number of bloggers grow from 7 bloggers to around 40, and Jordan Planet was mentioned in Jordan Times, Royal Wings, JO Magazine, and a number of Internet sites and newspapers, as well, the number of visitors to the site had been increasing exponentially.

The best thing about it is that it grow out from being a personal project of mine. A number of Jordan Bloggers are involved in different aspects of the site. And I am trying all the time to find volunteers to take some of the responsibilities in the site administration, and take care of new features or sections in the site.

I want to thank all those who helped Jordan Planet in the last year, specially Roba, Natasha, Lina, Jad, Mariam, Iyas, Ammar and Mohammed. I think that as long as Jordan Planet have you, and many others of the bloggers who had been of great help, Jordan Planet will grow old to see it’s second, third, and maybe 10th birthday (will there be still Internet as we know it in 10 years, who knows :) )

Pro(s): Absolutely love the design, colors and the font change

Con(s): Dislike the navigation buttons on the top, home, etc. I think they can be confusing and should be horizontally aligned

Good Job! Keep up the good work.

    Cheers,
