JP Vote, Meeting, and other stuff

Today we had our 4th Jordan Bloggers meet up, and it was really great, and probably the best. Roba had a nice post about it, with pictures.. a must see.

What what great about this meeting, that it was a just a relief. Seeing how everyone enjoyed the meeting, and having the complete anonymous stop by for a minute to say hi, and thanks to everyone blogging, really made me feel that I am not wasting my time.

The recent vote in Jordan Planet really stressed me out, and I even considered closing Jordan Planet for some time to think things out, and prepared a page for it. The reaction I got for the voting idea was not what I expected. Nevertheless, it went on.

Now after that meeting, I guess it somehow gave me the energy to continue, as well, having Jordan Bloggers offering help in the planet thrilled me.. Roba will be taking care of the “Weekly Highlights” Blog in the Planet, as well, Lina will be managing the “Amman This Month”. I really hope that it will work out now.

Regarding the voting and so.. the results of the voting will be reflected on the planet soon, but I guess there will be no other voting.. I will return to making decisions on who’s in, and who’s out. I had much less headache that way :) As many of the bloggers said in numerous occasions “Voting is not the best things Arab do”.. although it is offensive, but it seems true..

tayyeb can i help with anything? shall i design a banner with a strobe light for jordan planet?

Your conclusion to make decisions yourself is a wise one. It has worked for Arabs for centuries. It also gives the governments less headache.

But as i mentioned before: We, here at The Western Hemisphere Chapter of JP, renew our allegiance to the Planet under the wise leadership of our Emperor Isam I, dam thilloh.

    Anta Al sha3b..wal Sha3b anta…

3n jad thank you for yesterday and for everything you’re doing Isam!! I’m really excited about helping in this wonderful community… and like I said in my last post, I’m really proud to be part of it :)

I agree with Iyas and renew my allegiance to your wise leadership too ;)

    Emperor Isam,
First of all, Thank you for everything. The planet is truly a wonderful place for us the bloggers and for the whole country; you can never get enough credit!

Incase you decide to try voting again, I have a few ideas (I hope I won’t give you a headache):
These thoughts are older than meeting everyone, after the meeting, I have to say I don’t like them at all anymore.

I think the planet has a maximum number of bloggers it can handle, if the planet keeps growing, it will become a mess. So, some meeting should decide that number, I would say 30 or 35.

Now, quality being the concern, If you have bloggers (and maybe the public) vote on a scale from 1 to 5, your winners would be the best (for example) 30. (Nobody is going to vote “remove”, with a scale it’s inevitable. it’s brutal, but I think it’s how peple will be removed based on how much people enjoy their writing).

I also imagine a “Prospective Planeteers” link that leads to a side “planet”, where you can add the new requests (after you filter news and forward oriented blogs).

Some people can’t have enough to read, making the side planet maybe a good idea. Then hold a vote every 3 months on the current planet and side-planet by all the members of both planets.
(The side-planet (call it your Moon ;) ) can just be a simple page, like your “down” page)

I think you should make money from the hits, and hire someone to take care of the planet for you! : )

Ya3teek alf 3afyeh, I just wanted to share my thoughts. I think you will face this problem sooner than you think, when you have some 30 good requests, and your friends currently in the planet. And the planet can’t just keep growing.

It’s only an opinion. Your leadership has proven to be wise and got us this far, you have my allegiance.

I don’t knw whether the words I wrote about the vote is one of the reasons or not, But I guess it’s one of them.
Maybe you didn’t understand me,, Maybe I was hard. Anyway I shouldn’t interfere with jordan planet anymore.
But guess what ? I really love Jordan and I wish all the best to the country. Don’t ask me why because I don’t know!

Long live Isam and Jordan planet :-)

BTW: The link to Roba’s has 2 “http://” so it’s not working correctly.

  6. Isam Says:
