[...] Why we have to vote on people or on blogs, why we don’t vote on policies ? http://isam.bayazidi.net/archives/2005/05/quality-for-the-planet/ I’ll quote from Isam bayazidi blog Currently changes are being cooked.. I will make it public for discussion once a decision is near. and what happened is we have to vote on people and blogs, and nobody knows what happened to the public discussions [...]

Eman .. Than you very much .. you just said what I partly had in mind (I try to fight my thoughts with my thoughts when thinking).. I had thought about something else in regards of Jordan Planet.. that is have a voting system for "Front Page" entries.. or bloggers.. The thing is with too many bloggers, it will be messy, and some of the really good blog entries will be lost behind and within the forwards and pictures of babies wearing flower hats (I know I am rude here :) ).. There is a non-serious problem now in Jordan Planet.. and if we keep ignoring it, and allowing it to happen, it will be worse.. as I said, I am not sure what exactly to do, and how to solve it.. but first thing that comes to my mind is voting were ALL bloggers in Jordan Planet have a take.. so that my personal opinions about who should be in and out won't matter much..

Regarding having it as Jordan Planet means that ALL Jordanians should be added.. I tend to disagree here :) I agree with you that JP should reflect the good and the bad of jordan.. but that is not by having bad posts about what ever.. it is by having good posts about bad things :)

Isam, I understand your good intentions and your efforts in trying to improve Jordan Planet, but allow me to disagree with you on this specific point. Jordan Planet is supposed to be a window to Jordan, Jordan that has the professional & the beginners, the boring & the interesting, the funny & the serious. If you limit it to certain people it wont be a true reflection any longer. |Not to forget that blogging is a personal thing in the first place, what I find great you might find boring, and what we all might find boring could be so interesting to the blogger himself. I believe no one has the right to kick out anyone, it's so unfair. And if we can't implement the freedom of expressing one's self -without offending others or crossing the lines of politeness- in something as simple as blogging, then I believe our societies will never ever make progress.
I believe that not allowing someone to join the planet, or kicking them out will hurt their feelings, it will make Jordan Planet specified to what we think is "elite" and this is no longer fair, neither just for others, it'll be a sort of discrimination, which I'm totally against. So I believe, Jordan Planet should be open to all Jordanians, as long as they don't offend anyone or any entity politically or socially or religiously. And whoever believes a certain blog is boring could simply avoid linking that blog to his/her personal blog!
This is what I think.

i agree 100%. i have been contemplating sending you an email for a while now. and being the dimplomat that i am i have no problem if you, the webmaster, kicked anybody out. but being the diplomat that you are, you want it to be a collective decision. i already have a list of 6 or so bloggers that needs to go and get their own xanga away from JP.

keep it up and let us know what we can do to help.

PS. i will write a whole post telling the world that you are the coolest jordanian, but ya khook, don't delete me. waray mara w 3eileh,,,

madas, This is my personal opinion.. and I will not reflect it on what Jordan Planet has. Basically there are certain bloggers who fill up their blog with email forwards and so.. now they are free to do what ever they want in their blogs.. but I find it to be very annoying in Jordan Planet. As I said, I will not remove anyone from Jordan Planet because I don't like them.. but I would like to have a process where ALL Jordan Planet bloggers have a take on who's in, and who's out..
