Dear all, as i apply for the jordanian authoroties to import another tobacco products which is 90% less harm for health and it is proved in eurpe and it contain no second smoker , it is so healthy and no canser , but they did not accept it . by the way it is consumed in 20 country around the world and all is happy with it as a method of sweching .

i hate smokers!!! it’s good to know you are not one of them. im jordanian and almost all my cousins smoke!!!they are soo damn hot i don’t wan’t them to die early or to mess up their faces

I didn’t say that they will prevent smoking in public places :) what I read, and said is that they will put shock pictures on the Cig packs :) having the rules of 1970 that prevent smoking in public places is still a loong shot :)

That’s good news Isam. But for some reason, I’m skeptical. One place to start is Queen Alia airport. I can’t believe that people can still get away with smoking at Amman’s airport, including people who work there. It just feels so third world-ish..!

I know I should stay hopeful, but every time I go to the airport I end up fighting with every smoker there…I’m just tired:(

I am glad 2 hear this news :) but i guess most ppl knows how bad smoking is but still do it 4 some reason, take 4 example my dad who is a doctor and knows how bad it is even more than we do but still he smokes cigarettes and the hubble-bubble (twice a day at home) and the hubble-bubble my mom got addicted 2 that 2. So me, my 2 bros and one sister r 2nd hand smokers now and i dont think this thing well help my family but it will help another houses 4 sure :) btw i am glad ur a gemini as well :p

this is awesome, only if it is actually implemented. the campaign should be extended to media outlets. let the TV show pictures and movies of operations. i also agree to ID’ing for tobacco sales, but have my doubts this will ever work, at least not before we get rid of such phrases as “yaba, teeh 3addokan ishtarili bakeit goldstar”

not only should they put disturbing photos on the cig packs, but also start to prevent smoking in buildings and encourage people not to smoke inside the house especially around children.
i think asking for id’s when buying smokes can also help in reducing people getting hold of it since so many young people are addicted to it.

Now this piece of news made up my day. The ministry of health intends to force Tobacco manufacturals and importers to put shock pictures showing rotten lungs, throat tumors and decayed teeth to be placed on the cigarette packets….

This is great! really! when my bro (smoker) came from Canada he had one with a not very shocking pic but still it had really guilt-provoking sentences, and he said: they made us feel really bad and sorry for hurting others (ma bihannouna 3a sigara) ;) which I found perfect. So imagine when the pic is shocking, I believe it will have a great positive effect.

Linda .. Well Basically, there are laws that prevent selling or serving tobacco to those under 18, but there isn’t much follow-up or strict implementation for it.. As for rules of “no smoking in public places” or “closed buildings” there is no such thing ..

Basically this piece of statistics tells it all: “57% of doctors (MD) in Jordan are smokers”. Now imagine what kind of society we have.

are there any drug and smoking prevention programs in the schools in jordan? what are the laws like there about smoking? what is thelegal age? and what are te laws when it comes to smoking inside buildings? im really interested in this subject in regards to jordan.

Wow! That’s great news! I’m very happy about hearing that. I hate smoking to death myself, and I find the fact that a huge amount of my friend are chronic smokers really depressing…
