Jordan Planet Reloaded

October 23rd, 2004

Since I started Jordan Planet I had been looking for a decent design, and logo for it. Today I spent more than 2 hours trying to make a better design, and I ended up with a full admission that I was not born to be a designer or an artist :)
Jordan Planet had grown for the past two month, the number of bloggers had grown from 6 to 14, and I expect to see more in the upcoming months, as blogging feaver had reached us in here. Number of daily hits gone from 100 to 200 in october (around 6000 is expected by the end of the month). Regular visitors are around 35-50 visitors only. It will be of great help for growing the number of visitors or bloggers to add a link to it in your blog, or even better use one of Haitham’s Icons for Jordan Planet in your site.

Now, if you have any suggestions, ideas, or thoughts about helping the site reach more Jordan bloggers, or have a better layout or design, please feel free to post them as a comment here. Help is needed, Jordan Planet is a non-commercial project, and will stay so.

Happy Ramadan ?!

October 15th, 2004

I am not really sure, I don’t really find anything in it to be happy about.. More TV shows and programs that I do not watch ? more traffic jams and harder transportation ? having to work 6 days a week in Ramadan while I work 5 days/week in other months ? Really, what is to me ?

Probably, our company have the worst altered schedule for Ramadan, I was verbose, and told the manager that I find our Ramadan schedule worse than the original schedule, while others enjoy a more relaxed schedule.. Anyhow, we’ll see how we will get by it.

Into research

October 13th, 2004

Probably one of the main reasons that I came from Saudi Arabia, to work in a company in Jordan is that I needed to build my technical experience, and so far, within the 40 days that I had been working with the new company in, I had been learning and building experience more than I expected. Me and Power

October 6th, 2004

For some time (for a year now) since I saw the Apple Powerbook, I had it in my “Dream-List” .. as it seems to me with it’s price, I may get one when I win a lottery :) Today, that dream looked close, and not far to reach. Now there are many factors in this equation, to start with, I love this machine .. I even started to google about having Debian Linux in it (don’t worry, I will keep the Mac OS X)… the second factor is priorities, as since I came from KSA, I had “Getting my own car” in my head. Maybe it will have to wait for a couple of months ..
Now I don’t want to jinxs it but I really hope that it will work, and probably it will be the thing that I will remember the year 2004 by. Wish me luck ..

In Transit

October 3rd, 2004

I just watched the movie “The Terminal“, a really nice Spielberg/Hanks piece.. At some point in the movie I remembered “Al Hodood” (The Borders) for Duraid Laham.. Of course one can’t compare those 2 movies, as they are in totally different places, with different plot and goals..

It never occur to me that one can have a life in transit, it doesn’t have to be in a terminal building, but it is a state of mind. I think that during 2003 I was in transit, almost the whole year. I waited for some promises that never got fulfilled, and I had dreams that was hanging and waiting for me to go for.. anyhow, I am glad that I am out of the transit stage now ..
