Reiser 4 is out ! Do I want to try it?

I read in Slashdot today about the release of Reiser4 File System. Now I had been reading about it for the past months, and how many believe that the future of file systems in Linux is in reiser4 and so. I did not try it so far, mainly because I am not in the mood for backing up partitions, and reformating and so :)

I’m currently using EXT3, one of the issues that I don’t like about it is how slow it is when copying large files.. I am not sure if Reiser4 is better on that.. I know Reiser4 is better when dealing with directories with thousends of files than EXT3. Anyhow, I think I will wait until I am back home (in Amman) and I will get a new HD, and format it as ReiserFS, and play with things, and see how it goes.

Man Reiser4 ROCKS! I have tried it many times before in my earlier gentoo installations in which I was really surprized with it’s performance. I never tried copying large files though but accessing files and formating was superb!
Currently I always use reiserfs (reiser3) and quitted using ext3 since I moved to gentoo ;) God I love gentoo…
Considering reiser4 is comming soon ;)
